In the Age of AI:

August 26, 2026

⛰️🌱 Bringing online safety to remote communities in the age of AI: San Ysiro, Antipolo 📍 Last April 30, CyberGuardians PH had the privilege of helping bring AI literacy to the residents of San Ysiro, Antipolo, a community of the indigenous people of Dumagat-Remontado. 📍📅 ⚠️ Native communities in remote areas of the Philippines, no matter how close to the Metro, can be targeted by exploitative actors enabled by the abuse of AI technology. 🗺️ 🛜 When a community’s access to the internet is inconsistent or sparse, the temporal, material, and social costs of fact-checking becomes much higher than it is for their chronically online counterparts.⌛ Given that context, 🏷️ scams in the marketplace, 💢 extortion, 💼 🛠️ fake job postings, ℹ️📧 phishing for info, 💌 romance schemes, and 📰 misinformation easily leverage it to target 🎯 and exploit 🧽 remote communities in general. ✅ This makes AI literacy crucial for upholding remote communities’ online and offline safety. The community of San Ysiro–with members that included ♀️ women, 🧓 the elderly, 🧑‍🌾🌿 farmers, and 🧒🩼☂️ the underserved–enjoyed an Hour of AI session that taught AI literacy skills to protect them against online threats enabled by AI. 🛡️ 📣💐 Special thanks to @Goodhands Employment Agency Inc. and Malayang Samahan ng mga Katutubo ng Antipolo (MASAKA) for connecting CyberGuardians PH with the San Ysiro community and making the event possible!

Our Programs

Prevention

Prevention against all forms of cyberthreats by empowering the youth and engaging the community through massive Consciousness Raising Campaign, Training and Education, and Strengthened Local Government-Community Cooperation.

Children and the young are empowered as they learn their inherent rights on how to protect themselves from abuse and exploitation, online or offline, obtain information and share their voice by participating, even taking the lead in some activities of the Program, safeguarding their peer, and drive change to their best interest. But this can only be realized with the support of parents/family, teachers/schools, church, government, NGOs, etc. or an engaged community with a common aspiration to protect and nurture children and the young and support their initiatives.
